TRON Energy
One of TRON's two network resources. Energy powers smart-contract execution — which is what a USDT (TRC20) transfer is. Without it, the network burns your TRX to pay for the transaction.
Energy is the resource TRON charges for running smart-contract code. Because a USDT (TRC20) transfer is a call to the token's contract, it consumes Energy — about 65,000 for a standard send, or roughly 131,000 for a first transfer to a brand-new address.
If your wallet holds enough Energy, the transfer is nearly free. If it doesn't, TRON automatically burns your TRX to cover the cost — at the current network rate that's roughly 6.5 TRX for a normal transfer. You get Energy by staking (freezing) TRX or, far more cheaply for one-off sends, by renting exactly what a transfer needs.
