How to Send USDT from SafePal Cheaply
SafePal supports TRON across its app and hardware wallet. Rent Energy to your SafePal address and a USDT (TRC20) send costs a fraction of the TRX it would otherwise burn.
SafePal spans a software app and a hardware wallet, both of which support TRON and TRC20 tokens like USDT. As with any multi-chain wallet, a USDT send needs Energy — and if your account has none, SafePal falls back to burning TRX. Renting Energy to your SafePal TRON address keeps that send cheap whether you use the app or the hardware device.
Step by step
- 1
Copy your SafePal TRON address
In SafePal, open your TRON (TRX) or USDT-TRON asset and tap Receive to copy the address (it starts with a T). This is where both USDT and rented Energy sit.
- 2
Rent the Energy for your transfer
On an Energy-rental service like this one, paste that TRON address as the receive address and choose a single transfer (about 65,000 Energy, or ~131,000 if the recipient has never held USDT). Pay the small rental fee — the Energy is delegated to your address in ~10–15 seconds.
- 3
Send your USDT (TRC20)
Open USDT in SafePal, choose Send on the TRON network, paste the recipient, and confirm (approving on the hardware device if you use one). The delegated Energy covers the transfer.
App or hardware — the Energy works the same
Energy is delegated to the TRON address, so it doesn't matter whether that address is controlled by SafePal's app or its hardware wallet. Rent to the address you'll send from and the next USDT transfer uses it.
If you use the SafePal hardware wallet, you still sign on the device; renting Energy changes nothing about that flow — it only removes the TRX burn.
Avoiding a failed or overpriced send
Keep a small TRX buffer for Bandwidth so a transaction can always broadcast. Confirm the network is TRON (TRC20), not BEP20 or ERC20 — SafePal supports USDT on several chains under the same name.
Sending to an address that has never received USDT costs about twice the Energy (~131,000). Pick the new-address option when renting in that case so the transfer doesn't fall back to burning TRX for the shortfall.
FAQ
Does renting work for both SafePal app and hardware?
Yes. Energy attaches to your TRON address, not the device. Copy the address you send from and rent Energy to it either way.
Why did my SafePal USDT send cost several TRX?
With no Energy, the network burned TRX to pay for the transfer. Rent Energy to your address first and the same send costs a small fraction.
Which network do I choose for USDT?
TRON (TRC20). SafePal lists USDT on multiple chains — picking the wrong one sends on a different network entirely.
